General description HARD

HARD is a multidisciplinary formula student team consisting of motivated students from a variety of different studies from the Hanze UAS and University of Groningen. As a team we try to build a race car which we can compete with at a formula student event. HARD has different teams, where the mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and driverless engineering teams fall under the engineering department and the marketing, event and acquisition teams fall under the communication department. All volunteers spend one or more years with the team in order to apply the theoretical knowledge they gathered in a practical environment.

 

Description of function

The Chief Engineer of the board of the Hanze Racing Division foundation is responsible for the functionality of the whole engineering department, which is including the mechanical team, electrical team and driverless team. This implies that this position is responsible for reassuring the development and production of the car and that the dependencies of all teams are known and planned. The position’s job is to help the leads of the teams manage all individual teams throughout the year, starting with a design phase that is followed by the production phase of the components and subsequent car.
Next to this, the chief engineer is the main communication point to the Finance Manager of the team for acquiring all necessary components, processes and other. And you will be frequently in contact with the team manager for optimal team performance. 

As a board member you are expected to participate in weekly board meetings where you discuss all ongoing topics within the team and foundation
with your fellow board members.

We are looking for someone that is willing to do this at least 20 hours per week. However if you can do between 12 and 20 hours per week we can look at the possibilities!

 

What We are Looking for in You

 

 

This position is one of the most important positions of the team to ensure that the team can compete in the yearly Formula Student competitions. This is why we are looking for someone that is consistent and full of enthusiasm to take on this role seriously for the upcoming year. Engineering knowledge is a big plus however if you are analytic, good in communication and project management and next to that willing to learn quickly then we would love to talk about the possibilities!

  • Interested in race cars/formula student competition;
  • Motivated to learn and apply new skills.

     

  • Being fluent in Dutch is a plus!
